Beecroft Park for a family picnic with a playground
- Picnic tables
- Toilets
- Playground
- Parking
Beecroft Park is the one to choose when the picnic has to keep the kids busy. It has picnic tables, public restrooms and a children's playground with play equipment, all in the one park. A kids' bike path, kept away from the main traffic, gives little riders room to practise. Soccer, rugby and cricket fields, a basketball court and fitness gear also share the park. Unlike Booth Park and Yanung Reserve, it has no BBQ we know of, so the meal is a table lunch rather than a cook-out. Covered spots are limited, so bring sun protection on a hot day. Beecroft Train Station is about 350 metres away.
Best for: Best for: families who want a picnic, toilets and a playground in one park
Booth Park for a BBQ and open ground
- BBQs
- Toilets
- Parking
Booth Park is the place in Beecroft to cook, with BBQ stations and toilets in the same park. There are picnic areas, walking paths and open green space too, so there's room to spread out after the meal. The park has no fixed playground, so younger kids will need toys from home, and the open space suits games with them. Parking here is limited, so get there early or use the street. Yanung Reserve also has BBQs, set among bushland.
Best for: Best for: a BBQ with a group, where the younger kids bring their own toys
Yanung Reserve for a BBQ among the bushland
- BBQs
- Picnic tables
- Playground
Yanung Reserve is the bush option, with public BBQ facilities and picnic tables beside its bushland walking tracks. The reserve also has a children's playground and grassy spaces, so the kids can run off after lunch. Compared with Booth Park, it's the more natural of the two, with the walks running through native bush. We don't know of toilets here, so plan for that before a long stay. Finch Reserve and Beecroft Village Green are nearby for a second stop.
Best for: Best for: a BBQ with a bush walk on the same day
Fearnly Park for a shaded lunch under Blue Gum trees
- Picnic tables
- Playground
Fearnly Park is the one for a shady lunch, with Blue Gum trees over its picnic tables. There's no BBQ here, so think lunch rather than a barbecue. The playground has a 6-metre rope climbing tower, a rope bridge and double slides, and the swings include a toddler seat. Walking trails wind through the remnant forest, so a stroll after the meal is easy.
Best for: Best for: a shaded lunch, when a BBQ isn't needed

How we picked
Each park was measured on BBQs, shelter, picnic tables, toilets, a playground and its size. To be a pick, a park needs enough known details to write about, plus at least one of a BBQ, shelter or table. Parks with fewer details stay in the table, where a dash marks anything we don't know, never a no.
