About Twins Creek Reserve
Walking Tracks at Twins Creek Reserve
Twins Creek Reserve has walking tracks that follow Water Dragon Creek and Peppermint Creek. A firetrail starts at the bottom of Rothwell Road and follows Water Dragon Creek, narrowing as it goes. Another firetrail runs east along the ridge from Howson Oval, and an unmarked bushwalking track runs parallel to the ridge firetrail. The official bushwalking trail follows Peppermint Creek along the valley. The loop is about 3.2 km, takes one to two hours and is graded easy, with 85 m of total ascent. Some connecting tracks are not marked, so a map is useful.
Creeks and Waterfalls at Twins Creek Reserve
Twins Creek Reserve has two creeks, Water Dragon Creek and Peppermint Creek. Ku-ring-gai Council renamed both in late 2020, after the eastern water dragons along one creek and the peppermint gums along the other. Peppermint Creek has a small cascade and a larger flow, plus a very small waterfall where the creek runs under a large boulder. A Sydney Water sign beside the creek explains the high water flow.
