About H.C. Press Park

Bushland Walking Track at H.C. Press Park

H.C. Press Park has a walking track that links the reserve to Harold Reid Reserve around the shores of Middle Harbour. The track offers panoramic views up and down the harbour, and the park backs onto the North Arm Walking Track and the Explosives Reserve. H.C. Press Park occupies the south-eastern extremity of the Castle Cove peninsula, where its 4ha area was originally part of the HC Press Estate. Within a largely intact 35-hectare bushland area, the walking track gives walkers a continuous natural corridor along the water.

Off-Leash Dog Rules at H.C. Press Park

H.C. Press Park sits in a Level 2 area under Willoughby's wildlife protection rules. In that zone, residents may walk dogs on a leash along formal walking tracks. H.C. Press Park does not allow unleashed dog walking, so it has no off-leash area for dogs. Visitors with dogs should keep to the formal tracks and keep their dogs on a leash throughout the walk.

Henry Christian Press Heritage at H.C. Press Park

H.C. Press Park commemorates Henry Christian Press, who bought land on Middle Harbour in 1909. Around 1912 he started boat-shed and picnic operations in Castle Cove, so the shoreline here has a long recreational history. The park today carries a historical or cultural feature that recognises his role in the area. That heritage sits within the bushland reserve that visitors walk through today.
