About The Drying Green

Barbecue Area and Amenities at The Drying Green

The Drying Green has a barbecue area with an awning, and the awning's glass has solar panels set into it, which the City of Sydney describes as a first for NSW. The barbecue area sits among the park's lawns and native trees. The Drying Green also has a public toilet with a green roof and drinking water. The lawns across the park give room for picnics and quiet corners to relax,

Stormwater Wetland at The Drying Green

The Drying Green has a water feature that collects and filters stormwater. The water takes a three-day journey around a tiered wetland before it returns to the stormwater channel and then the sea. The park has over 30 different hardy native plant species, planted to enhance biodiversity. The wetland sits within the park's origami-inspired landscape of folded gardens and sculpted lawns. The water feature is one of the park's main features, and its cleaner water runs back into the stormwater channel before it reaches the sea.

Stream Public Art at The Drying Green

Stream is a public art installation by Kerrie Poliness at The Drying Green. Its colourful, intersecting, asymmetric diamonds are embedded in the lawns, the paving and the oversized steps. The artwork is inspired by the waterway that once flowed through the area. Its diamonds light up at night, so the artwork is visible after dark as well as during the day.
