About Wimbo Park
Children's Play Area at Wimbo Park
Wimbo Park has a children's play area with in-ground trampolines and softfall mounds, which give young children a cushioned surface for active play. The play area is the park's main facility for young children and was one of the main new features when the upgraded park reopened in April 2024. Casual seating is spread through the parkland, so parents can sit nearby while children use the trampolines and mounds.
Lawns, Native Trees and Mural at Wimbo Park
Wimbo Park is three times as large as the original park, with less paving and more open lawn and shade. The upgrade planted 49 new native trees and 21 native palms, and the park's planting is almost entirely native. The open lawns give visitors space to spread out, while the shade trees provide cover from the sun. Wimbo Park also has the reinstated Wimbo Park mosaic mural and a stonemason's monument.
Walking Path and Shared Zone at Wimbo Park
Wimbo Park has a walking path that gives pedestrians a direct route across the park from Bourke Street. The park is an important thoroughfare for people walking to the Moore Park stadium precinct. The walkway was moved slightly to Parkham Lane, which now forms an extended shared zone for riders and local residential traffic. Walkers and riders therefore share the route past the park's lawns and trees.
