About Penrith Beach

Swimming Area and Lifeguards at Penrith Beach

Penrith Beach has a designated swimming area at its southern end, about 110 metres long and extending about 60 metres into the water. Surf Life Saving NSW lifeguards patrol that area during opening hours, and red and yellow flags mark its edges. The water in the swimming zone reaches about four metres deep. Areas outside the flags are not patrolled, and Penrith Beach has its water quality tested regularly, with results published on Beachwatch and WaterNSW.

Accessible Access and Shade at Penrith Beach

Penrith Beach has accessible pathways to the water's edge and an access mat that extends into the water. A beach wheelchair is available for visitors, and accessible toilets and change rooms are on site. Shaded seating areas and outdoor showers are provided, and a hydration station gives visitors fresh drinking water on the beach.

Paddle Craft and Wildlife at Penrith Beach

Kayaks and paddleboards may use the water just outside the buoyed swimming zone at Penrith Beach, and lifejackets are required for everyone using watercraft there. That area is not patrolled, so paddlers use it at their own risk. Visitors may see fish and birds at Penrith Beach, including a large family of black swans and sometimes a small group of pelicans.
