About Anderson Park

Floodlit Sports Field at Anderson Park

Anderson Park has one floodlit sports field, suitable for cricket, soccer and other football codes, volleyball, training, school sports and carnivals. The field has two synthetic cricket wickets, so cricket matches and practice can use them directly. Floodlights let the sports field be used after dark.

Off-Leash Grass and Water for Dogs at Anderson Park

Dogs can use the grassy areas of Anderson Park off-leash 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The large sports field can be used for fetch when no matches are on, but dogs must be on lead during sports matches. Anderson Park has a bubbler and drinking fountains for dogs, plus bag dispensers. The park is open to both the water and the road and has no fully fenced area and no small dog area, and it has no agility equipment.

Harbour Beach and Sea Wall at Anderson Park

Anderson Park has a small sandy beach with direct, gentle access to Sydney Harbour for swimming. A sea wall lines most of the park's harbour edge, and a Depression-era concrete wall is one of its built features. Hill's weeping figs (Ficus microcarpa) line the main path and the park boundary as a shelterbelt, so the trees frame the harbour views from the grass.

Visitor tips for Anderson Park

  • โœ“Check tide times before visiting, because parts of the sea wall can go under water at high tide.
  • โœ“The park is busy in the afternoons with many local dogs, so a shy dog may find a visit at another time easier.
