About Cremorne Reserve
Walking Paths at Cremorne Reserve
Cremorne Reserve has an easy walking path that runs along the peninsula to the end of the reserve. The North Sydney Harbour Foreshore Bushwalk traverses the reserve, with signs that interpret the point's history along the way. On the eastern side of the point, the Lex and Ruby Graham Gardens is a bush garden that the Grahams began planting in the late 1950s, and North Sydney Council encourages visitors to walk through it on the way around the reserve.
History and Gun Emplacements at Cremorne Reserve
Cremorne Reserve was gazetted in 1905, which ended the threat of mines, factories and wharves on the point. Earlier, between 1891 and 1893, the Sydney and Port Hacking Coal Company pursued coal mining on the peninsula, but community and council opposition stopped the plan. The reserve also has historic gun emplacements, and the Robertsons Point lighthouse stands at the tip of the reserve.
