About Mitchell National Park

Walking Tracks at Mitchell National Park

Mitchell National Park has 5 km of walking tracks through native vegetation. The tracks wind through scribbly gum forest and tall bloodwoods, the bushland that gives the park its quiet character. The bush is secluded, so the tracks suit a slow, relaxing afternoon out. A Friends of Mitchell Park bushcare group volunteers in the bushland, so the walks are looked after by local people who care for the vegetation.

Picnic Area at Mitchell National Park

The Mitchell Park picnic area sits in a large field downhill from the entry gate at Mitchell National Park. It has flush toilets and picnic tables, but no drinking water, so visitors bring their own for cooking and drinking. Only a visitor's own gas barbecue is permitted, and not on Total Fire Ban days. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is about 200 m away at the amenities block, and the ground around the picnic area is mostly flat grass and gravel.
